Usman Rahmat, MD

Usman Rahmat, MD, was born and raised in the Maryland suburbs surrounding Washington, D.C. He completed a combined six-year Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine program at Howard University with Summa Cum Laude status (4.0 overall GPA). He then obtained his Internal Medicine training at Georgetown University Hospital  - being awarded Resident of the Year by the program as a senior resident. He completed his Fellowship at the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Georgetown University Hospital, where he was named Chief Fellow and Fellow of the Year for the entire Department of Medicine. After completing training he served as an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. During this time he also worked in collaboration with the National Institute of Health and the Washington D.C. Veterans’ Affairs Hospital to provide nephrology care to Veterans as well as research in kidney injury biomarkers and messenger RNA. 

Dr. Rahmat encourages a strong connection between the care team and patients emphasizing communication and education. In his free time, Dr. Rahmat volunteers at several free health clinics and enjoys providing patient care to underserved communities. He also enjoys being a clinical educator and active member of medical training programs including the Mary Washington Internal Medicine Residency and the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Outside of medicine, his passions include basketball, football, reading and spending time with family.

Reginald Joseph, MD

Reginald Joseph, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist and a New Jersey native who has dedicated his life to serving his community. He received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. While attending Meharry, he discovered his passion for nephrology by conducting research with the Vanderbilt department of nephrology. He then went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Rutgers University Hospital in Newark, NJ. During Dr. Joseph’s nephrology fellowship, he focused on research regarding the management of proteinuria in nephrotic syndromes. He has experience managing cardiorenal syndrome, hepatorenal syndrome and kidney stones as well as a variety of nephrotic and nephritic disorders.

Dr. Joseph believes that clear communication, compassion and providing the patient with accurate information is critical in providing great care to patients.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Joseph has a passion for sports. His favorite teams are the New York Knicks and the New York Jets. He also enjoys riding his bike through downtown Virginia.

Salah Amjad, MD

Salah Amjad, MD, is originally from northern Virginia where he lived and studied until 2006 when he was accepted to the medical program at Baqai Medical University in Pakistan. During his time there, Dr. Amjad participated in many major relief efforts when the country was hit by a natural disaster. Dr. Amjad then moved back to the United States and accepted a position as a medical research scholar at the University of California San Francisco. After completing his research, he started his medical training at the internal medicine program at Hofstra University in Queens, New York, where he was named chief resident. He then returned home to complete his fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Amjad’s interests in nephrology include management of gloumerulonephritis, hypertension, adult polycystic kidney disease (APCKD), chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease. He is also fluent in three languages: Urdu, Hindi and English.

Dr. Amjad believes all patients deserve the best renal care possible. He says his experience serving the public and those in need has shaped his values and ideals.

In his spare time, Dr. Amjad enjoys spending time with his son, traveling, playing sports, hiking, practicing archery and discovering new restaurants.

Mustafa Saidi, MD

Mustafa Saidi, MD, obtained his medical degree from Westfälische Wilhelms University in Muenster, Germany, where he had rotations in internal medicine, surgery and radiology. He then went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the Jacobi Medical Center in New York and then his nephrology fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Saidi was the chief fellow for the program during his second year. He is also fluent in three languages: Persian, German and English.

Dr. Saidi strongly believes in full transparency and communication when it comes to discussing the patient’s diagnosis and treatment plans. He says he pictures himself in the patient’s position to help him understand what they are going through. Helping patients feel that that are not alone with their diagnosis is very important in Dr. Saidi’s care philosophy.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Saidi enjoys traveling to tropical places, jet skiing, snorkeling, movies, dining out and spending time with family.

Xiaoru Yang, MD, PhD

Xiaoru Yang, MD, obtained her medical degree from the College of Wuhan University in 1994. She has an extensive research background earning a PhD with a focus on oxidative stress and tissue injury. She completed her Internal Medicine training at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. She then went to Fellowship at the Georgetown University Hospital Department of Nephrology of Hypertension. 

Dr. Yang strongly believes in providing high level patient care and is willing to work hard to be up to date and hone her craft to help deliver for her patients. She constantly goes above and beyond for her patients - every colleague at the practice has acknowledged her exemplary work ethic and level of care. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Yang loves to travel and enjoy art, music, and gardening with her family.
